SINGLE MOM, SUPER STAR!
When Mom and Dad divorced, it was a big blow
To me and my Mom, and I would still like to know
Why he thought it was a good thing to rob
Me of a father and leave Mom with a two-parent job.
But Mom didn’t teeter and totter and finally stumble,
And leave me alone to shatter and crumble.
She didn’t fall into a pit of self-pity and leave me alone
To try to fight life’s battles all on my own.
You rose to the challenge; you’re the best mom by far,
You’re my fighting single mom, you’re my superstar.
Where I’d be without you is too hard to say,
So I do my best to help you by doing little things every day.
Like being quiet when you’re taking a rest,
Because sometimes kids really do know what is best.
It’s been a tough going, but Mom and I are learning at last,
To let bygones be bygones, and leave the past in the past.
And I’m looking forward to all the good things that surely will come,
Because I know a superstar, who is also my Mom.
