FRIENDSHIP

I may come over and knock on your door,
I could text message you, but we both need a lot more.
We could have some big hugs and whisper a secret or two,
And that’s something text messaging won’t let you do.

At the park, we’ll go on the teeter-totter and zip down the slide,
And on the roundabout, go for a very long ride.
But first, I have to knock on some doors,
And who knows? The next door might even be yours.

At Sally’s, I see that she’s looking well,
With just texting, it’s too hard to tell.
Then she shouted and laughed till she nearly cried,
When her parents said, “Yes, she can go outside.”

So I kept knock-knocking, then knocking some more,
And the answer was always the same as before.
“Yes, I will go, then my wish will come true,”
And I never heard “no” from one Kidaroo.

So don’t wait for Halloween to knock on a friend’s door,
It’s not trick-or-treat time; it’s a whole lot more.
It’s about friendship, laughter, and play,
Because friendship makes even bad weather feel like a bright sunny day.
