IN THE VALLEY OF SKOOKANBERRY
I heard that in the Valley of Skookanberry, a kid can be a kid,
And a kid told me, that’s just what she did!
She went down on the slide, and swung on the swings,
She did all sorts of other Kidaroo things.
It’s a place where a kid can be a queen or a king,
Because imagination lets them be anything:
A pirate, a teacher, or even a lion that roars,
Or people from Mars, or even dinosaurs.
In the hot weather, they splash at the fountain,
Or turn the sandbox into a magical mountain.
As high as they are and really wide,
With the queen of the castle living inside.
No wonder kids want to go there every day,
But where is the valley?
It’s wherever the kids gather to play.
Kids are a wonder of nature,
So give them some space,
And let the Valley of Skookanberry be their magical place!
