PERPLEXATION

When you’re all in a dither, perplexation sets in,
You don’t know what to do, you don’t know where to begin.
You’re up, you’re down and you’re side to side,
You’re so perplexed you want to run away and hide.

So instead of finally being brave and admit,
You can’t make any of the pieces of the puzzle fit.
You hide behind a big gruff voice
And announce to the world that you made the right choice.

You hide behind the title of boss,
And everyone is ordered to do what they’re told, or they will make the boss cross.
And if you don’t do what you are told, the boss will start to yell,
And what happens next is hard to tell.

They like acting so important, but when the job gets too big and they can’t carry the load,
Watch out! The perplexed person could easily explode.
And if they do, they go red in the face, then say something rash,
And that’s when the perplexed and reasonable clash.

When perplexed people start talking, stand well out of the way,
They’re just letting off steam with nothing thoughtful to say.
In the schoolyard, that’s called bullying; there’s no other explanation,
But among big people, we call that perplexation!
