I’M ADOPTED
I’m adopted, I was given away,
By my parents on nearly my very first day.
They got rid of me, but how could they be allowed
To give me to someone standing out somewhere in the crowd?
You might think that my new parents are kind of fake,
Well, that would be kind of a mistake.
My new parents love me, we’ve created a bond,
And their care for me goes above and beyond.
I’m the envy of kids in the whole neighbourhood,
But they don’t know I’m adopted, and I’m not sure that they should.
My first parents got along when it was only two,
Then I was born and you put me up for adoption. So what did I do?
Oh! Oh! I better stop thinking like that, I have nothing to gain,
Except depression and a whole lot of pain.
I’ll meet them one day and greet them as friends,
But will I meet them again? Well, that all depends.
On whether my new parents think it’s OK,
I listen to them first, because they’re not the parents who gave me away.
