A “SELF WE” NOT A “SELFIE”

Instead of standing alone and taking a selfie,
Get with the gang and take a “self we.”
Because having great memories is all about inclusion,
If you don’t want others in your picture, we will come to the sad conclusion
That you want to live like a hermit crab in an under-sea cave.

But that’s not the way for human beings to behave.
You should gather the gang and start shooting away,
Catch them mugging for the camera or any odd games that they play.
Snap them on the swings and the slides and at the pool where they spray and they splash,
And out on the track where they run the 50-yard dash.

And in the later years you will come to the conclusion
That it’s much better than a “selfie,”
Because that means exclusion.
So instead of a “selfie,” start shooting a crowdie.
Let all the kids run around and be rowdy,
And later on you will look and see that you had more friends than you knew,
And each picture will mean so much more to you.
