NEVER QUIT TRYING

When you’re a little kid and it’s hard to know,
Just how far down the hill your toboggan will go,
Because your toboggan might have a spill,
On the big bump halfway down the hill.

So would the toboggan go all the way down?
Some added “yes,” while others just made a frown.
Then we all started piling on, even after every space on the toboggan was gone.
We squished those at the bottom, but those at the top,
Fell off and landed on each other, with a groan and a plop.

And we kept piling on and piled so high,
That the ones on top wondered if they would poke a hole in the sky.
So we were set and ready to go,
But the toboggan was sunk deep in the snow.

It wouldn’t budge, the runners were stuck,
We wanted a ride down the hill, but we were all out of luck.
So everyone ended up just standing by,
And decided not to give the toboggan a try.

So I jumped on the toboggan and got to the bottom without any spill,
So everyone cheered and called me the queen of the hill.
Sometimes if you want to succeed, you have to take a really big chance,
But as long as you’re successful, it doesn’t matter if you get there by toboggan, or the seat of your pants.

You don’t have to be a superhero to come out on top,
Just keep on trying when other kids stop.
